Applications are due by the extended deadline April 15
The Indigenous Journalists Association, in partnership with the Oklahoman, is proud to announce the launch of the Oklahoman Native American Journalism Internship program.
The 12-week summer program will offer three full-time paid internship positions for Indigenous candidates passionate about journalism and committed to telling impactful stories about communities across Oklahoma.
Interns will have the opportunity to cover breaking news, trending topics, and feature stories, while working alongside seasoned reporters, photographers and editors in a fast-paced newsroom environment. Interns will also receive one-on-one coaching and mentorship and a free one-year student membership to IJA. Finally, interns will attend the annual IJA conference, with all costs covered by the program.
The Oklahoman is seeking candidates who are current IJA members or eligible for membership. Preferred applicants will be college students—seniors encouraged—who have prior experience in journalism through internships, freelance work or student media. Strong writing, reporting and fact-checking skills are essential, and multilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
