
The Indigenous Journalists Association has developed this list of essential elements for forming an independent tribal media to guide tribal officials seeking to enact press freedoms. In addition to these foundational elements, IJA recommends pursuing independent telephones and email servers for privacy, and, if possible, independent human resources and the express legal right and resources to hire counsel.
