A little Native American Journalism Fellowship history for y’all

Karen Lincoln Michel, current editor of Madison Magazine, writes about the 2014 Native American Journalism Fellowship and Project Phoenix in a post on her blog titled Native millennials show a ‘fire’ for journalism.

Among her observations, Lincoln Michel notes the basics of the project:

The students were put through two-and-a-half days of intensive training in journalism basics and hands-on multimedia instruction. They wrote stories that were published on [www.nativevoice.naja.com — link broken, ed.] and in the Native Voice newspaper, a 12-page broadsheet. They also produced multimedia packages for the website.
