NYU Journalism-IJA Scholarship Applications Now Open 

IJA partners with NYU for a fourth year to offer fall 2024 full-tuition scholarship. 

In partnership with the Indigenous Journalists Association, the New York University Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute is proud to offer a full-tuition scholarship to an Indigenous Journalists Association (IJA) member admitted to one of the 10 NYU Journalism graduate programs.

The goal of the NYU-IJA scholarship is to support IJA’s mission. This scholarship is open to all U.S. citizens or permanent residents, regardless of identity or background so long as the candidate shares the core mission of IJA and becomes a member of IJA upon reception of the scholarship. 

NYU-IJA awardees can earn a graduate journalism degree in one of the school’s top-level NYU graduate journalism programs: 

This scholarship is limited to students applying to our in-person concentrations. American Journalism Online applicants are not eligible for this scholarship.

Interested candidates only need to complete the regular NYU Journalism application. Proof of IJA membership must be submitted at the time of accepting the fellowship award. Applicants may join IJA upon receiving the offer. Please note that membership in the IJA is open to individuals of all racial backgrounds, and this scholarship is as well.Interested candidates can learn more about how to apply here.
