The Native American Journalists Association has developed this list of essential elements needed to form an independent tribal media to guide tribal officials seeking to enact press freedoms.
In addition to these foundational elements, NAJA recommends pursuing independent telephones and email servers for privacy and if possible, independent human resources and the express legal right and resources for hiring counsel.
